District Photo purchases its third Scodix digital enhancement press
SCODIX, ISRAEL – 19 March 2019 – Scodix, the world’s leading provider of digital enhancement solutions for the graphic arts industry, today announces that District Photo has purchased a third Scodix digital enhancement press for its web-to-print services. Due to an urgent need for additional capacity, the third machine is planned to be installed in April in Phoenix.
District Photo, one of the largest direct-to-consumer photo fulfillment operations in the world, was founded in 1949 and prints books, cards, stationary, yearbooks and other products. Its client base includes major brands such as Walmart, Costco and CVS Pharmacies. Following the installation of the Scodix presses, the company has been able to offer customers one-off, personalized foil and high gloss effects, amongst others, as part of its online ordering service.
Julian Marsh, Director Commercial Printing, District Photo, says, “It is of vital importance that each product we deliver as part of our web-to-print service is of the upmost quality and fits the requirements of the customer. The Scodix digital enhancement press allows us to add the luxurious embellishments needed to make our customers feel that they’re producing something special. This level of enhancement is not something we were able to offer before with our online service. Personalization is an increasingly popular trend and one we know our customers love.”
The Scodix technology incorporated at District Photo includes the Scodix Studio Software module that enables automatic workflow and full integration into District Photo’s digital front-end and printing workflow. Using automation and barcodes, each print is assigned the correct personalized foil and enhancement data, in addition to foil type and all enhancement parameters. This allows for complete automated workflow for a personalized foil – from the web order all the way to the final shipment.
“This is a landmark announcement for Scodix,” states Scodix CEO Adina Shorr. “We are immensely proud that Scodix was chosen by District Photo as a partner for implementing personalized digital print enhancement. District Photo is renowned in the industry for its fantastic product range, and as one of the world’s largest web-to-print service providers, it’s a fantastic platform to introduce Scodix digital enhancement, particularly personalized foil, to a huge population of end users. Having ordered its third Scodix press in a short timeframe, it’s a great testament to District Photo’s confidence in the quality of Scodix enhancements and the tangible results it brings to a business.”
Marsh concludes, “As we continue to aggressively grow our new commercial print division, we are very excited about the added value that Scodix embellishment and personalization options bring to our value proposition. This is a natural partnership for both parties.”
